Fix Yo' Weave!

Hands up if your favourite thing is heading off to the beach for a lazy Sunday relaxing in the sun and then suddenly stumbling upon a rave. And while you have your hands in the air, wave them around like you just don't care. That said, I guess you can imagine what business I got up to today. Insanity. For the first time ever my phone lied to me about the weather, declaring a 60% chance of rain, whilst it was clearly clear outside. This good fortune, mixed with my non-hangover got my-sunday-self to Shonan Beach, just south of Tokyo, 30 mins from home. On my approach to my favourite spot, and after a quick stop for water, a newspaper and some sunscreen, the doof-doof vibrations of the black (wrong!) sand told me that something was awry. Back to the conbini for some more appropriate provisions and I was ready to J-rave.

We like to party. We like, we like to party.

Kristy: Sweet. Pink and yellow are gorgeous. Only bedazzling these could make us hotter.
Kim: I know.

Narelle: Trace I'm sooo damaged by the sight of those bitches in pink and yellow bikinis. Fuck them.
Tracey: Totally. And their weaves are longer. PS can you smell ass?
Narelle: Yeh, Trace. Where is it coming from?
Tracey: No clue. Word, did that bitch just dump in her bikini?

Sharon: Word Michelle. I need to go to the toilet.
Michelle: Bitch, I just did.
Sharon: You're rank.

Brenda: So. Who needs zinc?
Donna: I know I do. Let's work it out.
Kelly: Word.

Charlene: You bitches better watch yo' self. This ain't no zinc giveaway. Fuck all y'all.

Does this look gay?

Oh! 花火 v.2!

Last night my friends Satsuki and Clinton and I went to watch the amazing fireworks on the Tama River not too far from where I live. They were totally spectacular! I was saying last night how much hype the fireworks in Sydney at New Years gets, and I am starting to wonder why. I think the fact that they shoot off the bridge, and also how amzing the harbour looks, certainly get them a lot of play BUT the fireworks I saw last night were sooo much more firey. Apparently the Tama River hanabi isn't the best in Tokyo, that is next week in Asakusa (home of the golden turd), and hopefully I will get to those as well. The hanabi last night was great, so many people, so much good food, so many carnival-folk flogging their suspicious foods, and close to 2 hours of non-stop fireworks. Hanabilicious!

On the way at the station. Oooh.

Satsuki-chan and Kurinton-kun in their yukatas. Jealous.

J-carnies. Small hands, smell like sushi.

Oh! 花火!

Now that it is summer in Japan everyone gets hotted up in their sexy yukatas (light summer kimonos) and it's game on! Hanabi (fireworks) are organised pretty much every weekend, and last Sunday night me and some lovers went and checked out the awesome display in Yokohama. Yokohama is ace because it's the 2nd biggest city in Japan, right next to Tokyo and with a gorgeous bay it kind of reminds me of Sydney. So the fireworks were on the bay, we sat on our tarp in the park, drank lots of j-beer and chu-hai and had a sexy time. It was especially cool because I went with my lovely, lovely friends Rebekah (from high school!), Cindy (former workmate in Sydney!) and Carrie (if you read this blog you know her for sure), and also Cindy's boyfriend Ben and Carrie's lovely flatmate Sandy, so it was all Aussies (something I have just realised as I type this now.)

Yukata? Check! Fan? Check! Onigiri? Check! Sultry anime pose with pseudo-shyness? Check! Rebekah looking absolutley J-tastic!

皆さん今晩わ!

I love this photo of Rebekah in the phone box! かわいいね!

Word.

Unfortunately we were parked under a tree so we didn't get the best view of the fireworks, but my experience of them is that they aren't super-amazing, they just last for about an hour. Pretty cool. We were, however, sitting under a tree like the one from the Ghibli film Totoro so it was pretty sweet anyway!

トトロ、トトロ!トトロ、トトロ!

Counting Down The Days...

So I have finally decided on a date to come home, and it's the 23rd of August. I really can't wait. Love Japan but it's totally time to go. The dream is dying. Over the past couple of months so many people have packed up and left, there are 3 other teachers leaving in August too so it totally makes sense, except that now I have the coolest flatmate ever. That bit sucks, but otherwise I am fully ready.

Sally left first, and things started to go down hill from there. Since she was the sole woman in the place she was in charge of dishing out sexual-harassment reports. Her absence has subsequently led to hands and fluids flying all around the office. With noone to stop us, it's game on. She is eating her favourite food in the whole wide world: rice, peas, corn, chilli sauce. 4 easy ways to save up for a trip to China.

Alex doesn't seem to be going anywhere in a hurry, but his gorgeous fiance Suze did and she is sadly missed.

Me and my manager Yuriko. Cool cool.

Kara took off back to Jersey in a blaze of fabulousness and a thousand tears.

Hiromi ditched Nova to chase boys (well one boy named Simon) and get her soul back. She totally ruled as a manager. So much fun and a really cool chick. She quickly learned the ring-game. If you look at the ring she is making then she can punch you. You are owned.

Miya loves it too.

Back at the ranch I picked myself up a new flatmate called Rich. He's from England and he speaks English funny. But that's ok.

Rich is on the left, with Satoru, Hector and Tom. Hector and Tom live in our apartment building and are funny fuckers.

Satoru and me and Hector at Karaoke.

Rich and Tom singing....can you guess what it is?

PS I know this blog is lame.
